It's 2016.

Posted: Feb 19 2016

I've been keeping my head down and work since I last blogged. I have lots of aspirations to write on here more regularly, but it's easier for me to just post new drawings to Instagram regularly and write little snippets. I'll keep trying.

ONE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Anyway, it's 2016 and Kate and I have a baby now. Ben and his mom are doing well and we couldn't be happier. Sorry that this delayed some shipments this month, and that I've been late responding to some e-mails.

A RELATED ANNOUNCEMENT

I'm gonna not make any new tees for a couple of months. I still have some old stock left and am happy to just casually sell that off while I draw and work on the next batch of releases. I'm already signed up for a booth at San Diego Comic Con with my pals, so I'll be doing that show at least, and I'll have a bunch of new tees and other stuff. I will be posting drawings regularly to Instagram and some of them might become tees but most of them are just to keep good habits up. It's nice to just draw. I want to get back into painting but realistically it's a lot less stressful for me to draw with markers for now.

ANOTHER ANNOUNCEMENT THAT WOULD PISS OFF 2008 SEIBEI BUT 2016 SEIBEI IS PRETTY HYPED ABOUT

I'm testing out three old classic SEIBEI designs at Hot Topic, as part of my partnership with the Threadless Artist Stores program. These three designs (The Power of Love, Kitty Cone, and I Like To Say Things & Eat Stuff) will be tested out in select markets and if they do well will be released nationwide and I'll get some extra diaper money and wider distribution to some of my favorite old pieces.

WE GOT REALLY INTO KONMARI RECENTLY

KonMari is a style of decluttering where you get rid of everything that doesn't "spark joy" in your life and I got rid of all but one t-shirt that wasn't black or white, so I'll probably start doing tees on only black, white, or maybe Navy tees. These colors tend to sell better anyway, but it was weird to find out that my tastes are in line with that now too.

TELEGRAPH IS DOING WELL, THANKS

Kate and I run a comic shop and art gallery in Charlottesville, VA called Telegraph Art & Comics. We just moved to a high traffic location in a nice part of town and things are going well. Kate is essentially on maternity leave so I'm behind the counter most days.

DO YOU NEED ANY FREELANCE ILLUSTRATION DONE?

I'm slated to translate another book soon and I have my family and my work at Telegraph Art & Comics to keep me busy, but if you have a project out there that you think I'd be well-suited for then let's chat. I can always squeeze in freelance work and am not sleeping a terrible lot these days anyway.

ANYWAY, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.
